We build the hardware and software, that we sell to local energy companies who deploy our tech to deliver affordable, reliable electricity as a service last-mile communities.

In order to execute on the mission to 100% energy access for all - we are looking for a HR & Admin officer.

We need a proactive and detail-oriented HR & Admin officer to keep our people operations, office, and processes running smoothly, and to grow our team supporting recruitment and onboarding.

Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and secure storage of employee records, according to our tools and structure.
  • Provide employees with HR-related documents and support general HR administrative needs.
  • Support onboarding processes, including purchasing equipment, assigning desks, providing welcome merchandise, etc.
  • Support Learning & Development activities by scheduling internal and external training sessions in Nigeria.
  • Ensure all HR policies and practices comply with Nigerian labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation in Nigeria.
  • Coordinate with legal or external consultants when necessary to ensure full compliance.
  • Support payroll and benefit implementation (ex: health insurance coverage).

Recruitment

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for junior and mid-level roles in Nigeria.
    • Review and publish job descriptions
    • Screen candidates
    • Conduct Interviews
    • Coordinate interviews with hiring managers (including in-person or office visits)
    • Coordinate in-person interviews and office visits
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process
  • Support employer branding initiatives to attract local talent

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, ensuring a smooth integration into the company.
  • Make in-person onboarding sessions (Company intro, Policies and processes, etc.)
  • Organize internal dynamics or events, training sessions, and team-building activities
  • Foster a positive and engaging office culture aligned with Okra’s culture and initiatives in other offices (guaranteeing a global experience)
  • Be the HR representative in the Nigeria office
  • Be the point of contact for any problem, and inform global HR Team of necessary improvements in Nigeria.

Employee Mobility

  • Support local mobility within Nigeria and international mobilities into Nigeria
    • Accommodation booking (flights, hotels)
    • Coordinate visa processes and documentation, in compliance with Nigerian laws
  • Support office visit planning and bookings
  • Coordinate transportation when needed for field visits or airport pickups

Office Administration

  • Ensure the office environment is clean, well-supplied, and conducive to productivity
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and services
  • Act as the main point of contact with the building lessor regarding contracts and office-related issues
  • Collect feedback from employees on office conditions and suggest improvements
  • Support the organization of internal events and office activities to strengthen company culture
  • Coordinate external stakeholders visits to the office
  • Oversee equipment allocation and tracking for new and existing employees

Hard Skills

  • Competence with Google Workspace, including Sheets and/or Excel, Docs, and Slides
  • Experience with calendar scheduling tools (ideally Google Calendar) and communication platforms (ideally Slack)
  • Ability to use travel booking platforms (e.g., Booking, Airbnb, etc.) and manage visa processes
  • Comfortable managing relationships with office suppliers, service providers, etc.
  • Knowledge of Nigeria Labor Law
  • Knowledge of recruitment strategies

Soft Skills

  • Willingness to learn: Openness to new knowledge, techniques, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication: Clear and professional interaction with employees, candidates, vendors, and agencies, both written and verbal.

Required Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an HR role with exposure

  • Experience in Office management.
  • Experience in fast-paced environments (ideally startups).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with HRIS platforms for employee records, contracts, and document management.
  • Experience with Dropbox sign.
